Carry the stone over the edge and down to the floor.

A mitred waterfall turns an island into one continuous piece rather than a top sitting on a base.

The mitre

The vein turns the corner.

Because the pattern runs through the full thickness of the slab, a 45-degree mitre carries the veining around the corner instead of stopping it dead at the edge. Cut from one slab, the grain reads continuously from worktop to floor.

Specification

2 cm mitred reads as 4, 6 or 10.

The visible edge is a function of the mitre, not the slab: a 2 cm top can present a 100 mm face without the weight or cost of solid stone. Fabrication is exacting, so template early.
