Treads, risers and stringers from one stone.

A staircase is the one element people touch, tread on and look up at all at once.

Treads and risers

Cut as a set, matched across the flight.

Treads and risers cut from the same block run the pattern up the flight instead of restarting at every step. Granite is the specification here: a stair is trafficked, and engineered surfaces are not rated for it.

Underfoot

3 cm treads, textured nosing.

A stair tread spans unsupported and takes concentrated load, so it is the one place we always specify the thickest slab. A honed or leathered surface gives grip where a polish would be a hazard.
